Read the inaugural post which explains
the idea and how you can participate too.”

First of all, tomorrow, August 9th, is National Book Lovers Day. However, there are some who celebrate in November instead. Thus, I’m marking the occasion. As a result, I’ve decided to share 9 lists of 3 favorite book-related things. Therefore, 3 bookstores. First, Crackskull’s Coffee & Books. Then, Water Street Bookstore. Also, RiverRun Bookstore. Also, 3 libraries. Magnolia Library & Community Center, Dudley-Tucker Library, Durham Public Library. Then, 3 books. 3 graphic novels. Jessica Jones, The Walking Dead, Wonder Woman. Next, 3 series. Harry Potter, Dresden Files, Discworld. Then, 3 traditional authors. Diana Gabaldon, Neil Gaiman, Janet Evanovich. Furthermore, 3 indie authors. Janine Crowley Haynes, Greta van der Rol, Shayne Parkinson. Most noteworthy of all, 3 charities that promote reading. RIF (Reading Is Fundamental), World Book Night (April 23), Little Free Library. Especially relevant, 3 ways to help your favorite authors. First, review their books. Then, rave about and share their links on social media. Finally, recommend them to your friends and local book clubs. Next, what are some of your favorite book-related things? Because I’m interested, be sure to shout out in the comment section. Finally, happy reading!

I always check for Diana Gabaldon’s name on anyone’s list and let out a big sigh of happiness when I see it.
I love the quote!
I do that with Jim Butcher. Thanks, Heather! 🙂
Love the links, the quote…this post!
Love that you love it, Middle Girl! Thanks! 😀
I LOVE your three traditional authors. And two of your indie authors– I’ve never read Shane Parkinson.
Might steal part of this for my Microblog Monday–with my own answers though.
Shayne writes amazing historical fiction – my brain is melting at the moment (just got done at the laundromat) but I’d say she’s like the Little House on the Prairie series (my childhood love), for adults, set in New Zealand.
Steal away, Journeywoman! Can’t wait to see your answers. 😀
Now this is a holiday I can’t get behind! I need to head to the library to pick up a new book so I can celebrate.
Sounds like a plan, Cyn!
Love this! Someone posted on facebook that it was National Book Week (it’s not, that’s in September) but had this idea to have you grab the closest book to you and then turn to page 56 and retype the 5th sentence, but not say anything about the book or its identity. It was so much fun guessing what the books were and learning about people from what they were reading! 🙂 We have no independent bookstores left where I live. It’s hideously depressing, so I have to find my favorites in Vermont and Maine. The Northshire in Manchester, VT and Misty Valley Book Shop in Chester, VT are absolute favorites, very well curated and organized. Love your lists of three!
That’s a cool FB game, Jess! I’ve done it before, but with a different twist (I think it was an author thing, to post it from a book or story you were currently writing). I’ll have to try the guessing version – thanks for the tip!
Yeah, we’re pretty spoiled with small book shops here in NH (and MA too). If you’re ever in the Concord NH area, there’s one called Gibsons that might make your favorites list too (it’s in my top five, but it’s over an hour away). Here’s their link – http://www.gibsonsbookstore.com/
If someone asked me who my favourite author is I would be stuck because I love love love reading. On second thought, my favourite author is the one I reading right now 🙂
Excellent way to decide, Diana! 😀
Great idea for celebrating National Book Lovers Day! I’m about halfway through Cheryl Strayed’s Wild on audiobook. It’s fantastic!
On the fiction side, I read this book called “Under the Lemon Trees” by Bhira Backhaus a few years ago. It was her first novel and so beautiful that I periodically check to see if she’s written another one. (Still waiting.)
Thanks Stephanie! Definitely putting those two on my list to check out – thanks for the suggestions!
Love both the quote and the picture. I am going to get back to reading at night with The Illegal by Lawrence Hill.
Thanks, Deathstar! I need to start reading at night again too – I miss that routine. And thanks for sharing that title – I’m always happy to add more to my “check this out” list. 😀
Wonderful post. I’m reading more fiction now. 🙂
Thanks, Jessica! I love reading fiction (especially Urban Fantasy) too. 🙂
I love posts about books! I haven’t heard of some of these authors, but that’s the best part.
Exactly, Mali! It’s an awesome way to discover new favorite writers. 😀
This is great! (Also, my reader is somehow messed up & sending me to year old posts! That said, Happy Birthday late this year too. 😉 )
Aww, thanks Em! A belated wish is still a wish, and I appreciate it!
