First off, I just gotta say – Godsmack, Laurie Cabot, and Hammond Castle together in the official video for one of my favorite power raising songs? How the FRELL did I not know about this? Bad geek, bad witch, bad ME!
*deep breath*
While I’m taking a moment to get my brain under control, the original reason for this post is because of something that popped up in my Facebook newsfeed yesterday. It reminded me how much I love Godsmack. Here’s a portion of that post –
NEW YORK, NY (June 02, 2015) — Continuing a partnership with the men & women of the Armed Forces that begun earlier in their career, Grammy Award-nominated multi-platinum Boston hard rock heroes GODSMACK have joined forces with a fellow Beantown institution, The Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program in an effort to raise both awareness and donations for the needs of Post-9/11 Military veterans.
Home Base was created as a joint venture between Massachusetts General Hospital and the Red Sox Foundation, and its goal is to help and heal post-9/11 veterans and their families by treating the invisible wounds of war – post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. The initiative emphasizes clinical care, wellness-based programs, community outreach, and education. To date, Home Base has served more than 7,500 Veterans and Family Members with care and support and trained more than 10,000 clinicians nationally.
As part of their partnership, GODSMACK and Home Base have created a special online donation page for fans to donate and receive a free download of their new single “What’s Next?” from last year’s 1000HP [Republic Records] via this special link on the band’s web site: www.godsmack.com
So check it out, donate if the spirit moves you, and enjoy the free song download if you do. I know I am. *grin*
Now, about my little rant at the beginning of this post – about a bazillion years ago, I worked as a tour guide for the Hammond Castle Museum in my hometown of Magnolia, MA. I have tons of magical memories of my time there, and I try to keep a close eye on the place (I’ll do a more in-depth blog some time in the future). To find out today, by accident, that Godsmack did a video shoot there waaaaay back in 1999, with Laurie Cabot and her coven performing a ritual during it, wicked blew my mind. The only reason I even played the video was to double-check the lyrics I used in my graphic for today – as soon as the Great Hall flashed on my computer screen, I shrieked, got goosebumps, and teared up, all in the space of one microt!
Here’s the video that melted my brain today –
And here’s my almost-completely-full moon picture from June 3rd, paired with lyrics from Godsmack’s Voodoo –
Now, if anyone needs me, I’ll be playing the Voodoo video on a continuous loop for the foreseeable future. *grin*
