Welcome to another Foto Friday! Bit of a shameless plug before I get started – while I’ve mentioned before that I have some of my photos for sale on Fine Art America, I’ve now recently resurrected my Zazzle store. I put together a last minute calendar for 2017, and I’m slowly adding more photos and products. If there’s a picture I’ve taken that you’d like to see on a particular product, feel free to shout out, and I’ll get it put together in short order.
Now, on to the pictures for this week. These were all taken with my Nikon between March 24th and March 31st, 2017.
BONUS – While I was outside in the driveway taking pictures of the sunset on March 25th, I was hearing the strangest chewing noise, like something was mowing down on something crunchy. Then I noticed one of the tall pine trees swaying in my viewfinder, even though there wasn’t any wind. Mr Porcupine really went out of his way for his late afternoon snack!
Happy Friday, and have a great (if snowy) weekend!
Goldfinches, Crescent Moon, Stormy Sunset. Furthermore, this is not a passive voice. Finally, I am writing in an active voice. My SEO will stop telling me how to write. These sentences are also shorter than twenty words. Stop being so controlling. Especially since most of the sentences in this post are not mine. I will keep going until you turn green. I can’t believe this is still orange. Finally, it has turned. Success! This is not a passive voice. I am writing in an active voice. I am writing in an active voice. Thanks, Stephanie! I’ve seen this guy run/waddle for the nearest tree when we surprise him in the yard at night, but he’d go up about six feet and stop. I’ve never seen him this high before!
Once again the moon photo wins, but the goldfinches are sweet. We get them in our garden. We used to put out niger seed for them, but we have bird flu in our part of the world at the moment. Since we have chickens, we’re not allowed to encourage any wild birds into the garden, which is a shame, because I like to see the goldfinches.
Aww, that’s a shame, April. I hope the bird flu clears up quickly, and that your chickens stay healthy. I’ve loved goldfinches from even before I started stalking the birds in our yard! Oh, and glad you liked the moon shot – I was worried it wouldn’t come out, since there were hazy clouds all around it.
You have a great eye! Even though I went to NYU to be a screenwriter, I really loved my photography classes. I still have my camera from those days and really should use it instead of the one on my cell phone…
Thanks so much, Austin! Yes, you definitely should – even though there are some amazing camera phones out there, nothing beats seeing life through the viewfinder of the real thing. I’ll keep an eye on your blog for your own Foto Friday shots! ๐
Maybe I should slow down and see if the local birds fancy a phot shoot….although for an unclean mind that could be read very, very sexist and wrong! Lovely photos Traci x

These are great! Love that goldfinch against the blue sky. Did not know porcupines could climb trees. Good eye/ear!

I will dig out the camera at some point and see if I can find a store that still sells film. ๐
Wow absolutely fantastic photos, yet again Traci x
Thanks so much, Hayley! <3
I love your shots. The crescent moon is like a dream. Night skies are so beautiful on your side of the world, Traci.
I’m a bit biased, but I agree Parul – there’s nothing like the night sky here in rural New Hampshire. And thank you so much! <3

LOL! Gary, you naughty boy! Thanks!
I rest my case…unclean mind got that straight away ha ha….you’re welcome Traci
These photos are lovely.
Wait is that porcupine up a tree!? I had no idea that porcupines could climb trees! I have never seen one before…
Thanks, Josy! Yep, that porcupine climbed up to a ridiculous height – they are very silly creatures!
Silly as well as cute!?
Now I’d really love to meet one!
Love the way the Goldfinch is staring at you.
Thanks, GC! It cracked me up when my camera focused and I saw his look! ๐
