For so many reasons, I felt that hope quotes were the best thing to focus on today. Quotes from three women paired with three of my bird pictures.
“Hope” is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—
And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—
I’ve heard it in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me. ~ Emily Dickinson
“Hope is a roving gypsy
With laughter on her tongue,
And the blue sky and sunshine
Alone, can keep her young;
And year by year she lingers
Under a budding tree
To join the red-wings’ chorus:
On-caree!“
~ Dora Read Goodale
“The wings of hope carry us, soaring high above the driving winds of life.” ~ Ana Jacob
“Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is?
Read the inaugural post which explains
the idea and how you can participate too.”
~ Melissa S. Ford, Stirrup Queens
Thanks. I needed to read the Dickinson quote today.
You’re very welcome, Journeywoman!
It’s definitely a day where hope is needed. And things of beauty, like these photos.
Thank you, Mel.
There are times when hope is a gift. Thank you.
Happy to give it, Mali, and you’re very welcome.
Beautiful quotes. Very needed after all the tragedy. Thank you for sharing
You’re very welcome, Cristy.
Beautiful. Lovely timing, when humanity is in dire need of some hope. I love the middle one best, partly because of the quote itself (which I’m unfamiliar with until now) and partly because I love red-winged blackbirds.
I hadn’t heard the quote before either, Jess, and when I did a little digging, I found the author is from my home state of Massachusetts. She and her sister (both poets) have quite the interesting history –

Oh, and I’m a recent fan of red-winged blackbirds myself, given the guy pictured above just became regular visitor to my yard in the past couple weeks.
Such inspiring quotes. Lovely pictures. I have a very similar picture like your third. Let me tag you on Instagram to show you 🙂
That would be wicked awesome, Parul! I’ll watch for your tag!
Beautiful…just printed this out.
Awww, thanks Janine! <3
Love that red-winged blackbird! I’ve lost count of how many pictures I’ve taken of them this year 🙂
I’m jealous! They’ve been shy this year – only time I see them is when I’m driving (the brats!).
The Dickinson quote is just moving. Beautiful. Inspiring. Thanks for sharing ❤️.
You’re welcome, Katie – thanks in return for the kind words! <3
