Now that I’ve consistently posted entries three times a week for close to a year (and daily last November), I’ve turned my focus to finding my audience. My peeps. My fan base. Lately, when I’m pondering possible platitudes to entice people here, this song by Genesis pops into my head –
“I will follow you will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year” ~ Genesis, Follow You Follow Me
Last night, I decided to rework the lyrics into an anthem for bloggers.
Follow You Follow Me
Stay with me,
My blog I hope you’ll always read.
Comment on my words, as I crave feedback
On my blog.
On your screen,
I feel so smart but insecure.
Every post is such a perfect post to share
With all your friends
I will follow you will you follow me
All the pics and posts that we know will be
I will sub to you will you sub to me
Just two million posts in each passing day
Like my page.
Oh I feel so very needy now
All my fans are unsubbing me so quickly now,
Going away
I can SEO
The ‘Net is huge, but you are here
Read my words, oh I’m better for the remark you cite,
And while I write
I will follow you will you follow me
All the pics and posts that we know will be
I will sub to you will you sub to me
Just two million posts in each passing day there will be

Oh, and I haven’t forgotten about a potential collab. I think it would be fun to do a Fandom Friday themed exchange, but that’s about as far as I got in the thought process. *grin*
LOL! Yeah, Mali – nothing like classic rock to make classic ladies like us feel our age. π
Microblog Mondays have been an amazing way to find new friends (like you) and new motivations to write. And yes, when I see even one hit on my page in a day (one that isn’t a spam bot), I try to remember at least one person read my words, and maybe got a smile or two. Makes it all worth while. π
I’m sure I know this song, but the tube isn’t coming to mind at the moment. Have a feeling it would get stuck in my head, though, so maybe it’s just as well.
Great that you’ve been posting so consistently! **high five**
So creative! I get the sentiment for sure. Solidly three posts every single week is amazing! I’ve been aiming for two, which is at times difficult to maintain in reality (in my head it’s super easy, too bad I haven’t learned how to stretch time in reality). π I will follow you!
Once I decided to have a theme for each day (writing, witchy, and fandom) it made it much easier to come up with ideas. And thanks, Jess – much appreciated! π

Hey Traci, I don’t know the song… but I do get the sentiment behind your lyrics… we are all trying to build a community here in blogosphere… π
Thanks, anks!

I just heard this song today. It’s currently in rotation on the 70s station. I’ll be thinking of you and your cleverness whenever it comes on again!
I still do the fangirl squeal and crank up the radio whenever I hear it. Thanks, Lori!
Nice lyrics. I noticed it is much more difficult to build a community now.
Thanks, Jessica. Yes, it’s harder, but it does still happen, so I’m not losing hope. π
Okay, after reading the other comments, I feel very old, as I immediately recognised the song! You’re very clever.
I love that I’ve found your blog through Microblog Mondays. I guess on the bright side, we know that there are always a lot more views than comments!

Thanks, Stephanie! I have a link to the YouTube video in the block quote section – maybe I should edit it so it’s not so obscure… hmmm…
*tune – not tune π

I’d say sorry, but it’s an awesome earworm to have! Our 20 year old son even has it on one of his Spotify playlists. π

Coolness, Judy! Thanks so much!
I really enjoyed it, so thank you! π
The poem’s fun. I probably know the tune, but I’m not going to go out of my way to be reminded of it.
Thanks, April! π
