Rabbit, rabbit! *grin*
This morning on Facebook, I mentioned to a couple of friends that I was/am a huge Xena fan girl back in the day, and I believed the first time I posted on the internet was in the Usenet Newsgroup alt.tv.xena. Naturally, I had to go looking, and thanks to the power of Google Groups, I found what I believe is my first ever post back in 1998 –
I’m happy and relieved that I didn’t sound quite as n00bish as I expected. Do you remember the first time you posted a comment online?

I wish I could remember! I think my first online post was on a dating website, but I’m not totally sure.
BTW- the dating website didn’t work… I met my hubby at a New Year’s Eve party. π
That’s awesome, Catwoman! I met my hubby before online dating was a thing – in fact, since it was 1987, the internet as we know it wasn’t even a thing. π
Fun to get those looks back! I don’t remember my first comment. It was probably on LiveJournal, though.
Wow, LiveJournal! I still have an account, although I only use it to read a friend’s blog. That’s really cool, Stephanie. π
I honestly don’t know, but my first “real”, regularly used commenting was done on mighty big TV, just before they became television without pity! I don’t think those forums still exist, sadly.
I even met up with some of the other commenters at the Sydney Olympics (well not at, but we listened to the 1500 freestyle in a pub in Sydney, and I was in Sydney for the Olympics)
Oh my goodness, I remember hearing about those kinds of forums! Dang, I can’t think of what they were called. How cool that you got to meet other members in person – I’ve had opportunity to do that with some cyberfriends, and it’s wonderful!
Cool that you were able to find that. I have zero memory of my first comment online. Though I remember where I was the first time I saw the Web and I said, “nah, no one will ever use it.”
Me too. A close friend who was a soundguy for bands and was a big enough geek that he also built them, showed me online in the late 1970s. I would guess 1977 or earlier. And I thought, exactly the same.
er, built soundboards. Not bands. That was clear in my head.
I understood it, but thanks for the clarification, Em. π
LOL! That’s awesome, Mel. π
I don’t remember my very first comment, but I do remember when I first commented on an infertility blog. That one a jump into a rabbit hole, let me tell you. I used to love Xena, wish I could still find reruns to watch!
Funny how the interwebz can suck us right in!
I’m seriously considering renewing my subscription to Hulu at some point in the very near future. All six seasons of Xena are streaming on it right now. π

I don’t remember, but it was a very long time ago. Probably 1989. It would have been on a service that was operating then, something by Sears called Prodigy. It was a LONG time ago. π
Wow, that’s extremely old school! Impressive, Em. π
Wow, I have no idea what my first comment was online. Yours was very insightful! I loved Xena, too. Also I love your thoughts on religion. I didn’t join facebook until 2009, and I am still not on Twitter. I remember getting on Prodigy in high school after hearing all the beeping and electronic noises of connection and chatting with people, but not necessarily what was said. Nothing deep, I’m sure. π Thank you, thank you for explaining “rabbit rabbit!” I keep seeing it and figured it was something to do with a new month (although only recently making that correlation, so I feel a bit slow), and now I KNOW! π Thank you.
Yay! I’m so glad I added the, “rabbit rabbit” bit at the beginning – I almost forgot! Thanks, Jess. π
