I haven’t owned many new cameras in my life. I learned basic photography in high school, using a loaner camera from my dad (which I still have, as evidenced by the pictures in my post from last year, “I heart photography“). Soon after, he gave me my first real camera, a Nikon that I used it for years and years, until it started leaking light onto the film (yes, film). As I considered ways to repair it (while playing around with a couple “throwaway” cameras), hubby (knowing my sentimental attachment to the brand) surprised me with a new Nikon digital camera.
Long story short, that camera was stolen back in 2010, and hubby then replaced it with the Olympus camera I currently own. It’s responsible for 99.99% of the pictures on this blog, and while I truly appreciate all the decent shots I’ve captured with it, I’ve (constantly of late) bemoaned all the great ones that got away. So a few days ago, hubby made good on his “threat” to upgrade my camera again. I checked the tracking first thing this morning, and saw this –
And this is happening tonight –
Fingers, arms, legs, toes, and eyes crossed that of the two, this is the first to arrive –
Have I mentioned that I have the best husband ever? *grin*

Oooh, congratulations on your new prize! It’s beautiful. What a wonderful surpriser, that husband of yours!
Thanks, Jess! Yeah, he’s gotten great at things like this (although I don’t mind if he continues to practice, just so he doesn’t lose his touch… *grin*).
Super cool!
Have fun with the new camera and show us the pictures π
Let me show this post to my husband now π
LOL! Great idea, Parul – I hope your husband gets the hint!
I just did a Fandom Friday post with a bunch of pictures. Here’s the link, if you want to check it out – https://www.traciyork.com/heart-new-nikon-camera/
Oh wonderful! It will be lovely to have a really nice camera. Well done husband!
I bought my first decent camera last year, and I have to say, the difference in pictures is astounding!
(I give 3 days for the effects of the full moon, & even when it’s separating, it’s still in operation for a day. IMHO.So I think you’re okay. Besides, you won’t be dealing with a VOC moon. Which is good.)
I knew there would be a difference, but seeing it is like, “WOW!” Thanks, Em. π
That is a good husband! Congratulations on the new camera π
Thank you, Mel! π
Nice! I’ve been dropping hints to my husband about a new camera for a year now. My old one (a Panasonic from 2008) is still okay, but I drool at the specs of the ones that are out now. And at the same time, I want a DSLR. I’m thinking maybe I’ll treat myself one once we sell my mum’s house.
Hope to see photos soon.
My old camera was from about the same time frame, and I’ve been whining about it for about a year. I was the one hesitant to spend the money, but now that it’s here, I wish I hadn’t waited so long. I hope you do decide to treat yourself, especially after what you’ve been going through lately.
I just posted a bunch of photos here, in case you want to check them out – https://www.traciyork.com/heart-new-nikon-camera/
I had to go back in your posts and check which Nikon camera you had got! Congrats. π Yes, I have Nikon as well π
I just poked around your blog a bit more, and discovered some amazing photographs – hurray for Nikons! I really like your idea of Foto Friday – can’t wait to see your future posts. π
