Last week, I did a post featuring visual quotes from three of my favorite authors (my pictures, their words). Two of my readers kindly left their favorite quotes, and a light bulb went off over my head. I asked myself, “Hey, how about doing a Quote Challenge as the thing for National Photography Month?” I didn’t answer myself, because I was already busy searching through the pictures I’ve taken in the past couple weeks for ones that might work with the words.
So, this is my challenge for myself, and I need your help. Please leave me one of your favorite quotes, and I’ll pair it with a picture I’ve taken. The catch (for me) is that it will have to be something I’ve snapped during this month (May 2016). Since I only had two to start, I decided to add one more of my own, inspired by a picture I captured yesterday.
Here’s this week’s offerings –
From Deathstar (check out her blog HERE) –
“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” ~ Joseph Campbell
From Jess (check out her blog HERE) –
“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.” ~ Lao Tzu
One from me –
“Everyone smiles in the same language.” ~ Author Unknown
Be sure to shout out with one of your favorites in the comment section, and check back over the next two Mondays to see what I come up with!
“Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is?
Read the inaugural post which explains
the idea and how you can participate too.”
~ Melissa S. Ford, Stirrup Queens
Teach only LOVE for that is what you are! from Course of Miracles
Good one, Dee – thank you! Hmm, think I’ll need to take a new picture for this. 🙂
“and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was greater than the risk it took to blossom” Anais Nin.
Excellent, Chris! I already have some ideas for this one – thanks!
I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.
Saadi Shirazi
My favorite quote for when I’m having a little pity party.
Love the quote, Diana! Gonna have to put my thinking cap on for this one. 🙂
The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you
Don’t go back to sleep!
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep!
People are going back and forth
across the doorsill where the two worlds touch,
The door is round and open
Don’t go back to sleep!
Ooooo, wicked awesome choice, Melissa! I hope I can capture on my camera what’s rattling around in my brain right now! <3
Oh, beautiful! I love the images you picked. And the smiling bird. I’m not going to lie, the images made the quotes more powerful and I found myself a little teary. I love this challenge…good quotes make me so happy.
Awww, thanks so much, Jess! I’m glad you loved it! <3
Absolutely loved your pictures and those quotes. I skipped MM this Monday so stopping by a bit late.
Here is a quote that I love. These are Ayn Rand’s words.
The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me
So glad you were able to pop by, even late, Parul! Thank you for the visit, the kinds words, and the great quote!
Lovely thoughts and pictures to go with them, Traci. Here is one I love:
“If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing.” ― Coco Chanel
Thank you, Shail – that’s an awesome quote! I already have a few pictures in mind – it might be hard to choose. 🙂
“So many things are possible just as long as you don’t know they’re impossible.” — Norton Juster (from the Phantom Tollbooth)
Love this idea!
Thanks, Mel!
Love it! Fantastic! Thank you!
Yay! I’m so glad – you’re very welcome, and thank you for the quote!
Am I too late for this? I love Gertrude Stein’s “The answer is there is no answer. That is the answer.” Though I think I might have paraphrased that.
Definitely not too late, Mali! I’ll add that one on to my list – thanks!
