Oopsie! Yesterday, whilst waiting for the Father’s Day bacon to be done bakin’ (yes, in the oven, using a roaster pan and parchment paper – OMG, yum!), I checked my email and found one from the Clarion Foundation, which began – “Dear Traci, Today is Week 1, Day 1, of the Sixth Annual Clarion Write-a-Thon.” I absotively posilutely could’ve sworn it didn’t start until today, so I went into a short-lived panic, and tried to figure out how I could squeeze spoiling hubby, celebrating Litha, AND writing about 1,200 into the rest of the day.
After I stuffed myself with bacon, eggs, hash browns, and pastries thought about it a bit, I realized that while NaNoWriMo (for me, anyway) is about quantity versus quality, this Write-a-Thon is supposed to give me a decent, rewritten draft of Wrecked, which I can then hand over to some beta readers. So I backed away slowly from the keyboard, spent the rest of the day with the family, and promised my muse my full attention during the next six weeks.
Now, I’m off to make good on that promise. Happy writing, all!
Hope you are able to stoke up those creative furnaces today, so that tomorrow is filled with productivity! π
Thanky, thinky! π
Good luck for the write-a-thon. I think I could do a quality-over-quantity exercise, though having recently done NaBloPoMo, I need further time to recover!
Thanks! Agreed – I did NaBloPoMo in November, 2014, and it was intense. Here’s to a speedy recovery!
Good for you. Life has to happen, too. There will be time for writing after that.
Thanks, Mel. I think there’s a quote out there somewhere about needing to live life or you won’t have anything to write about. I barely wrote yesterday as well (more family stuff), but I have this afternoon blocked out for writing – I’m recharged and ready to go.
