Happy Moon Monday! What the hezmana is that, you say? Well, for the past few months, I’ve been sharing some of my moon pictures and it’s always on Mondays! Today I have 20 Shots of two almost Full Moons.
With the current full moon set to arrive just after midnight on Saturday in my little corner of the world (which means it’s one of those confusing moons that happen on Friday for some, Saturday for others – check HERE to find your local time), I decided to comb through my archive of unedited photos to find some September Waxing Gibbous moon shots to share for today.
Given that my archive has billions and billions a fair amount of pictures, I decided to see what popped up just in the month of September. I thought it was wonderfully, if only partially, synchronistic that I had some shots from September 14th, 2016 and September 4th, 2017 – both sets of which happened to be two days before the moon was full. While I only had seven shots from 2017, there were over fifty for 2016. I figured I’d make it an even twenty for a total, and use the rest of the 2016 shots for a Moon Monday in the future.
Before I get started with the photos, I wanted to take a minute to mention how I edited these. While I’ve gotten in the habit of fixing the exposure and such for my daytime nature shots, it’s a very rare occasion for me to touch up La Luna in any way. However, since the raw photos that come off my camera are so large, I have to go through and reduce them in size – usually 20%, but sometimes 33% or 50% if I also plan to crop. So that’s my long-winded way of saying I haven’t altered or filtered the appearance of these in any way. The color changes and such are from turning the exposure up or down on my camera before I took the shot.
One last thing – while I usually enjoy writing long, rambling captions to my photos, I have a hard time doing that with moon shots. Partly because there’s only so many times I can say, “Moon behind the trees” but also because I’d like people to see their own thing in the pictures, without any input from me. I’d briefly considered doing a, “Caption This” contest, and I may still do something like that in the future, however I think these would be best viewed with silence on my part.
