Mostly Silent Sunday - Turkey Vulture Pair, May 5 2019 (#SteemBloPoMo Day 35)

First thing, about the #SteemBloPoMo Day 35 in my title – I know months don’t generally have 35 days, but @fionasfavourites and I decided to keep on posting for #SteemBloPoMo for at least the next day or two. 😊

Next, for a Mostly Silent Sunday, we had a pair of Turkey Vultures show up outside our bedroom window this morning, and they were kind enough to hang out for a bit of a photo session.

Now, on to my photos & videos!

#SteemBloPoMo Day 35 — Hubby noticed this Turkey Vulture hanging out on the rock just outside our bedroom window this morning

Here’s the first bit of video. I stripped out the audio, since all you could hear was the sound of our space heater. While I had the camera on my tripod (which is my usual these days), I kept my hand on it so I could zoom in & out – unfortunately, it meant the camera work was a little shaky thanks to my Essential Tremor. However, the BIG bounces around the 30 second mark had nothing to do with my perpetual dance moves, and everything to do with our cat Freddie trying to get my attention by gently biting my elbow! 😂

Oh, and if you look closely, you can see they were getting swarmed a bit by (I’m presuming) Mayflies, and were snapping at them. At the end, I tried to zoom in, but the camera went out of focus so I stopped & started again with the second video…

In this second, much shorter (35 seconds) video, it’s a bit more zoomed in up until they get ready to fly off the rock. I zoom back out at the end, and you can see how close they were to the house.
