Another month, another wicked awesomesauce contest from the Power House Creatives Top 3 team! This time around, we’re picking our favorite kids TV shows. First, here are the deets from the official contest post, PHC Top 3 Monthly Contest 📺June📺: Share Your Top 3 To Win A Steem Prize
Remember racing from school to get home to watch that favorite show of yours? Or maybe waking up early on a Saturday morning to make sure you caught the best cartoons while eating a bowl of cereal? This month we want you to get nostalgic and think back to those favorite television shows that you watched every week without fail. The ones that took you to another world. The characters that you emulated on Halloween (and every day in between).
Can’t remember back that far? Well maybe as a parent now you see your children light up the same way and want to share their favorites instead! Let them in on the fun by having them choose and share why they love it so much, or even better help them with an entry if they are on Steemit! (We’re looking at you @thekitchenfairy…)
Cartoon, live action, puppets or educational from any decade you choose, just share with us three of your top picks that any kid would love to watch!
Instead of going for the ones from my childhood a bazillion years ago that brought back fond memories, I decided to go for the ones from when our now adult children were growing up. I quickly came up with four shows that had a special place in my heart, and then went to get their opinions.
Now, I have to say asking my aforementioned kidlets (who are now 24, 21, and 19) didn’t go exactly how I expected! I talked to our youngest first, and got her top picks with some fond memories that included things like, “oh yeah, and remember how you used to let us watch shows like Buffy, and House, and Bones, and…”
Then when I asked the eldest, with the youngest nearby, I heard things like, “oh yeah, and remember how we used to get out of that punishment by doing…” and “I never told you before but I used to watch the TV from behind the couch when I was in timeout, and..”
A bit later, I caught our boy as he came in from a motorcycle driving lesson, and he picked his top three without hesitation. When I told him that his sisters had “out-voted” his third choice, he said something along the lines of, “well then they obviously have no taste…”
Without further ado, here are my 3 nominations for the PHC Top 3 Monthly Contest – Kids TV Shows contest, in no particular order…
Nomination 1 – SpongeBob SquarePants
REASON
This is one of those shows that appeals to both kids and adults – so much so, that we still watch it! In fact, the SpongeBob Christmas Special gets recorded and watched every year. All five of us give it…

Nomination 2 – The Powerpuff Girls
REASON
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup were a big part of our family were the three were really little, and had such a special place in our hearts that I’ve included them in blog posts, and the eldest had a special cake for her 21st birthday.
Nomination 3 – The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
REASON
This one particularly resonates with me and the youngest, for a myriad of reasons, and the eldest agreed that it had some special memories. Am I actually saying that a show about the Grim Reaper, who has to be the best friend to a pair of kids after losing a limbo contest to them, has sentimental significance to us?
Well…
Honorable Mention – Avatar: The Last Airbender
REASON
I personally love this show so much I couldn’t let it go unmentioned. Hubby, the boy, and I were mainly the ones who watched it, although the youngest did to an extent, and the eldest hardly at all. Which would explain that when we made the mistake of going to see it went to the movie theater to watch the live action movie as a family, those of us who loved the animated series decided never to speak of the movie again. 😜
How could you not love a show that had such nuggets of wisdom from Uncle Iroh, like…
Thanks again for putting these contests together, Power House Creatives Top 3! Best of luck to everyone entering, and I can’t wait to see what shows everyone else picks out!
