Please pardon the mess – website tweaking in progress

Yes, please pardon the mess. Just wanted to let everyone know why this site looks a bit different at the moment. As some of you are aware, for months now I’ve had issues with the site going down, lagging, and other such shenanigans.

I spent a great deal of time at the end of 2017, optimizing the bejesus out of this site, tweaking everything I could think of to tweak, and while my ratings on Pingdom, GTmetrix, and PageSpeed greatly improved, I still had frequent errors.

Now my hosting company is suggesting that I spend more time optimizing, because the said “the amount of traffic and the elements within your site it appears that this causing the memory limits to be exceeded on your site.”

For the moment, I’m stripping the site down to the bare bones, to see if that helps. In a week or so, if things seem stable, I’ll work on “prettying” up the place a bit more.
