On Friday, September 16th, the Full Pisces Moon arrives, along with a lunar eclipse. While it won’t be visible in my neck of the woods, it is elsewhere (click HERE to check your location). To suss out what this means, I once again scoured the interwebz for people more well-versed in astrology than me.
First, a little blurb from an article over at The Dark Pixie Astrology, called September 2016 New & Full Moons: Solar Eclipse in Virgo, Lunar Eclipse in Pisces & New Moon in Libra.
Then we have the lunar eclipse, which occurs on September 16th at 3:05PM ET in Pisces. Pisces is the sign of compassion, intuition, imagination, spirituality, and sacrifice, so we can do more for one another, have stronger gut instincts, let our imagination soar, get in touch with your spiritual needs, and make sacrifices for those we care about. Pisces is also the last sign, associated with endings, as are lunar eclipses, so there can be some important endings around this time, and we can all be collectively purging our lives in some way, shape, or form.
This eclipse squares transit (moving) Mars in Sagittarius, so our anger, energy, and aggression may be high. We’ll need outlets for our riled up emotions to avoid getting into big arguments or big accidents. The eclipse is semisextile (positive aspect, one sign away) transit Uranus in Aries, which can help us to settle issues of individuality, originality, eccentricity, idealism, or independence. And this lunar eclipse is conjunct (aligned with) transit Chiron, an asteroid dubbed the wounded healer and is associated with our wounds, what we need to heal from and how. We may see a big wound opening up somewhere, or a big wound closing somewhere, or both.
We can be extra sensitive with this lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses tend to be more emotional and make us more sensitive anyway, but that’s even more the case with it in sensitive Pisces, and with it conjunct sensitive Chiron. We might do well having a little bit of armor, but not too much. It’s okay to feel the bad stuff.
Also, I found this wicked awesome quote from the book Green Witchcraft II: Balancing Light & Shadow by Ann Moura, about the effect of a lunar eclipse on magical workings –
This lunar event additionally provides a person with the opportunity of drawing the subconscious into manifestation, which draws upon the power of the Goddess as Transformer. She is the Dark Lady of the subconscious, intuitive mind, Who then transforms the practitioner’s innate desire/will into reality as She Herself changes into the Mother. She gives birth to your desire in a ritual or meditation performed at this time. You focus on what it is you want to have and, as the Moon passes into darkness, envision the desire being gathered by the Crone, then passed into the arms of the Maiden as the sliver of Moon appears heralding the ending of the eclipse, and brought into manifestation by the Mother as the Moon is finally revealed.
Finally, here is the graphic I created for the occasion, using a picture I took of last September’s Super Blood Moon. Bright Full Harvest Moon in Pisces Eclipse Blessings!
Feel free to shout out!
