A more accurate title would be, “Simply Ostara with a New Moon in Pisces and a Solar Eclipse to boot.” However, that doesn’t flow off the tongue quite as well. It does demonstrate how I sometimes manage to make simple things more complicated than necessary, but I’m learning to pull myself back to the side of simplicity.
I had a few notes for today’s blog that I’d gathered over the past few weeks, but when I plonked down at the keyboard, my brain couldn’t figure out how to combine all three events into a single, simple ritual. I scoured blogs, websites, even Pinterest, and the more I found, the more convoluted my brain became. I mean, I wanna be the cool witch who does things like this –
In fact, a bazillion years ago, I put together an Ostara altar that looked like this –
After taking a nap stepping away from the keyboard, I deleted almost all of my notes, and focused on what I knew I could feasibly accomplish. This is my plan for Friday –
~ I’m hitting the craft store with the eldest, and plan to buy two votive candles – either one white, one black (if they have them), or two white. I’m also going to pick up a new plant (I’m leaning towards another Pothos). Last, but most important on my shopping list – a Lindt chocolate bunny . [EDIT – just realized the link doesn’t really show why it has to be a Lindt bunny – this is the reason.]
~ When we get home, I’ll straighten and dust my computer desk (my ritual space of choice), and get it set up. One candle will represent what I want to end (the black, or a white with a negative sign carved in it with a quartz crystal), and one will represent the new beginnings (white, or white with a positive sign). I’ll add the plant, the chocolate bunny, and whatever else I feel fits the space. Then I’ll light the candles, contemplate those things I want gone from my life, those things I want to begin, and ways I can achieve both. After I’m done, I’ll munch on the bunny for my simple feast.
The banishing/attracting elements work for both the new moon and Ostara. The new moon in Pisces (according to people that know about this stuff) affects dreams, ideals, and imagination, which also goes along with the general “out with the old, in with the new” vibe of my ritual. As for the Solar Eclipse – from my understanding, it adds stronger and more focused transformative energy, so I’ll add a few pieces of citrine to my altar.
As always, I’m eager to hear from my reader readers about how they celebrate. What are some of the ways you like to commemorate this Ostara, Easter, Spring Equinox, Snow is FINALLY Melting time of the year? Shout on in the comment section below. Oh, and if I get ambitious and do the fancy egg-writing thing, I’ll take pictures and post them on my Facebook page – feel free to follow me over there.
Bright Ostara blessings to all!
March 20, 2015 Ostara/Spring Equinox. New ideas, projects, beginnings. New Moon in Pisces, Dreams, ideals, imagination. Solar Eclipse, transformation and release. Bright Ostara Blessings!
I’m going to celebrate by hopefully getting home from work before the snow/mixed precipitation starts falling. *grin*
Seriously, I’m sooo ready for Spring, I can’t wait to celebrate. I can’t do much in the way of Spring cleaning because of the stupid back issue, so I’m making Spring in different ways this year. I’m hoping to go through some catalogs and order some new items for my Spring wardrobe, for a sort of fresh start (or at least a fresh update).
Excellent plan for a fresh wardrobe update!
Double *blergh* to the ongoing back issues, and Friday’s forecast… 😉
